What’s the deal with the donkey?

Not everyone knows this, but our little donkey mascot has been with us longer than Kick Fizz itself. And technically? He’s not a donkey — he’s a mule. (Half horse, half donkey, 100% stubborn charm.)

Before we became the fizzy infused drink you know and love, we actually tried our hand at something else: a line of hard seltzers inspired by the Moscow Mule — think spicy ginger, lime, and all those bar cart vibes.

We poured our hearts into it. We even designed the whole brand around that mule: loyal, scrappy, and ready for anything.

But here’s the thing — the hard seltzer space? Brutal.

Between giant macro brands and shelf space battles, we quickly realized it was an uphill climb. So a few years back, we made the tough call to shut that chapter down.

Still, we couldn’t shake the feeling that we were onto something. We loved what that little mule represented — resilience, experimentation, and doing things your own way. So when the idea for Kick Fizz bubbled up — something fresh, functional, and a little rebellious — we knew we had to bring him back.

Now, he’s still kicking (pun fully intended), riding alongside us as we help people chill without booze, discover low-dose cannabis, and find their fizz — on their terms.

So yeah, our mule’s got history. And just like us, he’s proof that sometimes a failure is just the start of a better idea.
